AimtecHackathon 2020: Biometrics, 3D printing and a children’s programme

  • 28/1/2020

The fifth year of #AimtecHackathon, to be held on the weekend of 20 March – 22 March 2020, will have several treats in store for visitors. Besides a battle of the hacking projects, it will also bring them a children’s programme and public presentations on the latest technologies. They can look forward to presentations by experts on biometric safety data, 3D printing, the digitalisation of agriculture and more. This event will be held at Pilsen’s Moving Station.

The goal of #AimtecHackathon is to present the world of technologies to people of all ages and to help IT fans connect and provide them with a space for creating entirely new and unique projects. “We offer access to technologies that are not accessible to just anybody. We’re in a better position than most to acquire them, and they can enable the creation of great projects with major benefits,” explains Aimtec’s Jiří Dobrý, one of the event’s main organisers.

TechTalks – the most fascinating technologies, in brief

TechTalks lecture series on Saturday will be open to everyone interested in technology, data security, digitalisation and more – areas that accompany and affect practically every area of life today. The main speaker will be prof. Ing. Dipl.-Ing. Martin Drahanský, Ph.D., the head of the biometrics laboratory at the Brno University of Technology’s Faculty of Information Technology. He will be focusing his lecture on a topic of burning interest today: whether or not fingerprints and retinas are truly a guarantee of security. Ondřej Tomas from CleverFarm, which helps to deploy today’s technologies in agriculture, has promised to be there; meanwhile, Ondřej Kašpárek from PrusaLab and Agi Gonda from e-NABLE Slovakia, among others, have promised their participation as well. Kašpárek and Gonda will be focusing on 3D printing. The complete programme is available at aimtechackathon.cz.

HackIT – 40 hours of hacking, unlimited possibilities

The centrepoint of #AimtecHackathon is HackIT – dedicated to programmers and other people with a mind for technology who wish to execute their project or gain new experience. Graphic artists, UX experts and hardware specialists are welcome as well. Just as in previous years, the teams will have access to mentors and technologies – and full freedom to decide what to create during the forty hours of programming. The event will culminate late on Sunday morning with a presentation of all the hackers’ projects and an announcement of the winners. More detailed information along with registration forms is available at aimtechackathon.cz.

YoungHackers – workshops for juniors

Aimtec has cooperated with educational and hobby organisations to prepare a programme suited for the youngest technology enthusiasts – primarily elementary-school pupils – on Sunday 22 March. Children and youth will spend a playful afternoon engaging with a variety of contests and toys, while their parents will have a chance to go over Pilsen’s tech education options in person directly with the representatives of schools and interest associations. Registration forms and further details are available at aimtechackathon.cz.
