In this presentation, we’ll explore what simulations are, the areas in which we use them, and the problems our customers most frequently bring to us. We’ll demonstrate what inputs are required for a simulation project and how a model is created—from the 3D environment all the way to the process logic—in FlexSim. Using practical examples of both small and large projects, we’ll demonstrate how to compare “what-if” scenarios and evaluate the results. We’ll also focus on the main benefits of simulation—faster validation of alternatives, identification of bottlenecks, and better decision-making support.

In companies, key operational decisions are often based on experience, local rules, or manual data processing. However, as the number of orders, constraints, and dependencies grows, it becomes increasingly difficult to determine which solution is truly the best—and to maintain the complex algorithms designed to manage this logic. In this presentation, we’ll show how a solver can transform a problem into a sustainable mathematical model and systematically search for optimal or high-quality solutions based on defined objectives. Using a specific use case—the optimization of wave picking—we’ll demonstrate how this approach works in practice, what types of problems can be solved, and how to validate the resulting solutions.
